Napoli and Roma played out a draw in Sunday's showpiece event at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, a result that did not alter their positions in the league table. Napoli remains third, 11 points behind league leaders Inter, while Roma holds onto fourth place.

Antonio Conte welcomed back Matteo Politano after injury, fielding him alongside Vergara and Hojlund in attack. For Roma, new signing Bryan Zaragoza made his debut from the start, with Pisilli confirmed in midfield and Soule initially on the bench.

The match sprung to life early: in the 7th minute, Roma's two new acquisitions combined perfectly. Zaragoza set up Donyell Malen in the box, who, completely unmarked, made no mistake from close range to give Roma the lead.

Napoli reacted and found the equaliser five minutes before halftime with a spectacular goal from Leonardo Spinazzola. After finding space, the wing-back unleashed a right-footed shot from outside the area: the strike flew over Svilar, slightly deflected by Pisilli, and nestled into the net.

In the second half, Conte's side started stronger: Spinazzola attempted a first-time shot, but Svilar made a decisive save to prevent them from doubling their lead. However, in the 68th minute, Roma was awarded a penalty: Wesley penetrated the box and went down after contact with Rrahmani, with the referee pointing to the spot. Malen stepped up to take the spot-kick and made no mistake, securing his brace and doubling Roma's lead. This also marked the best debut for a Roma player in the last ten years, with five goals in five games.

Napoli refused to give up, and Conte brought on Alisson Santos, who changed the game. The Brazilian found space in the box, unleashed a right-footed shot from outside the area, and tucked it into the bottom corner for the equaliser. In the dying minutes, a shot from Gutierrez forced Svilar into one last great save of the match, which ended 2-2, with both teams sharing the spoils.
